Ward Family Launches JoyforWard Foundation

Mark and Matt Ward, owners of Ward Electric Company, Inc., have announced the launch of the JoyforWard Foundation.

“We established the JoyforWard Foundation to honor our late mother, to continue to share her heart with others, and to carry forward her ideals,” said Matt Ward, president of Ward Electric.

Joyce Ward co-founded Ward Electric Company, Inc. in 2005, alongside her husband Mike. Since the beginning, Ward Electric has been involved within the communities which it has served. The company was established on strong family values, which still guide the Longmont, Colorado-based electrical contractor to this day.

Until her passing in February of 2020, the Ward Electric president and matriarch of the Ward family, lived by faith, the golden rule, putting the needs of others ahead of her own and believing it was the little things which mattered the most. She was passionate about children, faith, and was a sports enthusiast.

The JoyforWard Foundation will look to provide assistance to non-profits and organizations which meet criteria set by the foundation.

“This is a great opportunity for us to create something which will have a lasting impact on a community which has meant so much to our family,” said Mark Ward, CEO of Ward Electric. “We also see this Foundation being a natural extension of the culture at Ward Electric.”

The name of the Foundation incorporates a shortened version of Joyce as well as the family name. The name also refers to the idea of sharing joy with others and paying it forward. The “Joy” in the Foundation’s logo is taken directly from Joyce’s signature.

Ward Electric Company, Inc. (www.wardelectriccompany.com) has grown tremendously over the years. From a spare bedroom with just three field employees and a six-unit fleet to a spacious 36,000+ square-foot headquarters with over 360 employees and over 900 pieces of equipment. The company continues to specialize in all aspects of power with an emphasis on high-voltage (transmission, distribution, substations) and renewables. Its range of work also includes commercial, industrial and residential capabilities. Ward Electric has been recognized by organizations such as Engineering News-Record (ENR), the Denver Business Journal and BizWest, just to name a few. The company was named one of Colorado’s Top Family-Owned Companies by ColoradoBiz Magazine, one of the 2021 fastest-growing private companies in Northern Colorado by BizWest and one of the fastest-growing private companies in America by Inc. Furthermore, Ward Electric was selected as a 2021 Best Place to Work by the Denver Business Journal and also received the 2021 NECA Recognition of Achievement in Safety Excellence. While Ward Electric Company continues to thrive with each passing year, it never waivers from the values engrained by founders Mike and Joyce. Thus, JoyforWard has been established as a fundamental thread which runs through Ward Electric and offers community engagement and outreach.
