Distribution

Electric power distribution is the final stage of power delivery using overhead distribution and/or underground distribution.

Overhead Distribution

At Ward Electric Company, we apply fully-integrated engineering, procurement, and construction skills to all overhead distribution work.

Overhead distribution requires extensive knowledge, experience with a dedication to safety standards.

Whether the job is doing hot pole changeouts or building an entire new single-phase or three-phase line, we have the ability, skills, and safety set to do it right.

Our knowledge of conductor material, its weight, shape, thickness, performance yield, resistance, current-carrying capacity as well as cost efficiency all are critical components of a safe and successful project design.

Even regional weather conditions such as temperature, wind, and humidity are all considered when engineering an overhead distribution project. Our goal is quality work, safely – on every project.

At Ward Electric Company, we have the expertise and equipment to complete your overhead electric power distribution project from design to delivery regardless of size or scope.

We build “The Grid”.

Overhead distribution lines are typically single-phase lines. These distribution lines feed power to the consumer. Overhead distribution lines are most efficient over very long distances, typically hundreds of miles.

Underground Distribution

At Ward Electric Company, we have extensive experience in underground distribution installation.

We have completed installations in duct bank, conduit, direct bury, or by plowing. We’ve worked with cable from 1/0 to 1000 mcm and everything in between.

Our extensive pulling equipment and man power is available to execute your next underground project.

Our knowledge of the electrical supply system employing underground structures, cables and other equipment located under designated areas along public ways or utility easements is a critical component of a successful project design.

Electric power that is transmitted by underground power cables instead of overhead power lines take up less right-of-way, have lower visibility, and are less affected by weather conditions.

Knowing which type of distribution is more beneficial in any given project is a function of knowledge and experience.

At Ward Electric Company, we have the expertise, equipment and manpower to complete your electric power distribution project from design to delivery regardless of size or scope.

We build “The Grid”.

Underground transmission lines are less affected by weather and safety clearances and the insulated cables have significantly higher capacitance, which is its ability to store an electric charge.
